A Brief History of DealStop.com

Stemming from a deal-hunting obsession of mine, I decided in late 2004 to go forward with a plan to spread my vast deal-hunting knowledge to the cyberworld. On March 21st, 2005, StealDeals.net was born. Over the years our loyal deal hunters have seen the website transform from a simple daily deals website to a full blown coupon and deal aggregator. On July 27th, 2008 StealDeals.net was rebranded to it new home at DealStop.com. Checkout the DealStop.com blog to find out why?

Our Big Break

In July of 2005, I was going about my bi-weekly routine of Google-ing 'StealDeals.net' when I came across our first major (and by major I mean MAJOR) bit of press. Not only were we published in PCWorld, we were on the first page of the first part of the cover story! Luckily I caught the online publication about 2 weeks before the magazine hit newsstands, so we had pleanty of time to prepare for the storm of new deal hunters. Bio

Dave Kohnke - Founder, Deal Monkey, Affiliate Manager

My name is Dave Kohnke. I am the face, founder and deal guru at StealDeals.net. I was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (Go Packers!) and moved to Indianapolis, Indiana during high school. I went on to attend Indiana University (Go Hoosiers!) and graduated in 5 short years with a BA in Informatics. I began my post-college career path at Indiana University with an IT-type job, while STILL delivering pizzas for Pizza Express part-time. After 2 years with the University, I moved from Bloomington, Indiana to downtown Indianapolis. After 18 months in Indianapolis my (then girlfriend) fiancé and I relocated to Boulder, Colorado. We have been living in Colorado for over 1 year now and have been enjoying everything CO has to offer, including 25 ski days during the 07-08 season!

Our Brush With Fame

Last December, we decided to send the guys at Diggnation (Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht) a little care package including a 6-pack of Wisconsin beer and some StealDeals.net branded lighters. We didn't really have any expectations as to what they were going to do with the gifts. To our delight, they gave StealDeals.net a shout out and proceeded to throw the bottle-opener/lighters out into the audience. You can check out the first 3 minutes of the episode here.. Here is where it all started: on a circa-1980's La-Z-Boy recliner. This was my should-be patented recline-and-compute work space.	Over the years, I have been able to do a bit of upgrading. Everything you see in the picture was bought through the website, excluding the plastic cup and Kleenex box!
